What we do with your information

Who this covers

This policy explains what Option One Solar does with personal information collected through this website. It covers the site only. If you become a customer, the agreements you sign govern the project itself.

What we collect when you contact us

Every form on this site is one you choose to fill in. Depending on which one, we ask for:

• Your name, email address and phone number — on the contact form, the savings calculator, the buyer's guide, the referral form, the commercial proposal request and the service request.
• Your property address — so we can look at your roof, your utility and your sun exposure. Address fields use Google Places autocomplete, which sends what you type to Google as you type it.
• Details about your electricity use — your monthly bill, whether you drive an electric vehicle, and anything else you tell us about your home.
• Whatever you write in a message field, including on a service or repair request.
• A résumé or attachment, if you apply through the careers page.
• The name and contact details of someone you refer, if you use the referral form. Please only give us those if that person is happy to hear from us.

What is collected automatically

Like most sites, this one records ordinary technical information when you visit: your IP address, your browser and device, the pages you view, how you arrived, and how long you stay.

We also use Microsoft Clarity, which records how visitors move through pages — clicks, scrolling and mouse movement — so we can see where the site is confusing. These recordings can capture what you do on a page. We have configured it not to capture what you type into form fields, but you should assume your on-page behaviour is recorded.

Text messages

If you tick the SMS box on a form, you are agreeing to receive text messages from us about your consultation, quote or project. Message frequency varies, up to about three messages a week. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Agreeing to texts is never a condition of buying anything from us.

What we do with it

• Reply to you, and prepare an estimate or proposal.
• Schedule and carry out a home energy assessment or a service visit.
• Consider you for a job, if you applied for one.
• Pay a referral, if you referred someone.
• Understand which pages and adverts bring people to us, so we spend less on advertising that does not work.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do share it in these situations:

• Companies that run things for us — website hosting, our lead management system, email and text delivery, and analytics. They may only use it to do that work for us.
• Financing and program partners, but only if you ask us about financing or about the 25% Discount Program. We tell you who they are at the time.
• Advertising and analytics platforms — Google and Meta among them — through tags on this site. Under California law, this kind of advertising activity can count as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising even though no money changes hands. If you would rather it did not happen, contact us using the details below and we will act on it.
• Anyone we are legally required to give it to, or to protect someone's safety.

Cookies and tags

This site loads Google Analytics and Google Ads, Meta advertising tags, Microsoft Clarity and a live chat widget through Google Tag Manager. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings, and blocking them will not stop the site working. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on.

Your rights in California

California residents have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about them, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to opt out of its being sold or shared for advertising. We will not treat you worse for asking.

To exercise any of these, email info@optiononesolar.com or call (855) 502-6363 and say what you want us to do. We may need to check you are who you say you are before we act, and we will respond within the time the law allows.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and customer records for as long as we need them to do the work, honour the warranty and meet our record-keeping obligations. Job applications are kept for a reasonable period and then deleted. If you ask us to delete your information and there is no legal reason to keep it, we will.

Keeping it safe

We take sensible steps to protect what you send us, but no website can promise perfect security. Please do not send us financial account numbers, card numbers or a Social Security number through a web form. We will never ask you to.

Children

This site is meant for adults making decisions about their home. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be obvious rather than buried.
