What is SGIP?
SGIP is a California program that provides financial incentives for qualifying homeowners to purchase a battery for energy storage or backup power during a power outage. If you meet the following requirements, the SGIP program will pay 85% to 100% of the battery and installation costs.

Equity Resiliency Funds

You must meet a primary and secondary requirement:
- (Primary) You must be in a tier-2 or 3 high fire-threat area
- (Primary) You must have had 2 planned power shutoffs (PSPS)
- (Secondary) Your home water is on a well
- (Secondary) You are enrolled in a utility Medical Program
- (Secondary) Your home is subject to resale restrictions (55+ Communities)
Equity Funds
85% of cost ($850 per kWh)

You must meet one of these requirements only:
- You already have select solar incentives
- You live in California Indian Country
- Your home is subject to resale restrictions (55+ Communities)

Option One Solar will process everything for you, which includes gathering the necessary SGIP information and submitting the application to secure funds before installation. If approved, the state will provide financial assistance to pay for your battery backup system.
How do you qualify for SGIP?
You can start with the form we have made to the right. We will review the information you provide, help you understand the SGIP qualification process, and apply for you, or you can simply call us and talk with one of our SGIP experts.
Here is a breakdown of the required information for Equity Resiliency, you will need a primary and secondary qualifier to satisfy the requirements:
- Primary Qualifier: A “high fire-threat” area means that you live in a Tier 2 or Tier 3 fire-threat area.
- Primary Qualifier: Public Safety Power Shutoffs (or PSPS) refer to planned rolling blackouts. You received a notification from the utility that your power would be shut off. You need to have experienced two of these events.
- Secondary Qualifier: To qualify for medical utility rates, you must have a family member that requires medical equipment. (Nebulizer, C-PAP Machine, Oxygen, and many others)
- Secondary Qualifier: Your home water is provided by a well.
- Secondary Qualifier: Your home is subject to resale restrictions. (55+ Communities)

- Your home is located in California Indian Reservation Land.
- You have already qualified for other solar incentives, such as SASH.
This government-backed incentive program has limited funds.
Self-Generation Incentive Program
SGIP battery rebates allow California homeowners to have access to reliable, clean energy – which is more important than ever with the crumbling electrical grid and increasingly intense wildfire seasons in the Golden State.
In order to qualify for SGIP, applicants must be either a commercial, industrial, agricultural, or residential customer of Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, or San Diego Gas & Electric.
